Shrimp Plant
-
Justicia brandegeeana

This is a good plant for containers or patio pots.  The colorful, drooping flower clusters resemble shrimp.  It is necessary to pinch back the spent blooms to maintain bushiness.  These will winter over if brought inside during the freezing months.  Cut it back to almost the soil in the Spring.  Plant in loamy or sandy, well drained soil.  These don't like to dry out, so keep it moist.
