Virginia Creeper
-
Parthenocissus quinquefolia

Perennial climbing vine with beautiful foliage that turns reddish orange to burgundy in the fall.  During the summer white blooms turn to dark blue berries that are toxic to humans.  Birds love the berries.  This needs to be trained to grow on an arbor, pergola, fence, trellis, etc. so that it does not attach to walls.  Virginia creeper have sticky tendrils that will adhere to any surface, including walls and trees.  This is a fast growing/spreading vine that can reach 50 feet plus so it can become out of control if not taken care of.  Plant in moist well drained sandy, clay or loamy soil.
