These woody plants bloom slowly starting in July and fully bloom in August into a bright blue and purple.  Russian sage will grow in just about any type of soil and conditions. Full sunshine is a requirement to produce blooms though.  Once established they require very little water and withstand high heat.  Hardiness zone: 5-9
